Foil labels are made using special metallic foils to give the label a classy, elegant look. There are two ways to make foil labels. One is similar to other label printing processes, where ink is applied to foil materials and is more cost effective than the other method that is considered to be “the real thing”.
Foil stamping is a process where special metal plates or dies are heated and pressed onto a label material (paper, vinyl, polyester), leaving a thin foil strip with the special, previously prepared design. This type of foil labeling uses no inks, just the specially designed heated die that leaves a foil imprint on the label and gives it a special look.
Both methods are effective in creating rich looking labels, but they differ in the complexity of process, the cost of production, and the level of quality of the foil label.
